Golf has been a way of life in Fife for over 600 years and this is where the rules were laid down and where golfers from all over the world aspire to play. Naturally the Old Course at St Andrews is the golfing mecca but as in every region of the East of Scotland there is so much more. Outwith the seven courses managed by St Andrews there are resort hotels with golf courses on the perimeter of the town each with their own particular attractions. The Fife coastline is a treasure trove for those looking for hidden gems but most of the 47 courses in Fife have been discovered and revisited time and time again by golfers over the years.
