World Hickory Open Spreads Its Wings

10th July 2012

In 2012 the World Hickory Open is spreading its wings.

This year, the WHO moves from its early habitat of East Lothian of Scotland – Musselburgh, Craigielaw and Gullane – to the shores of Angus,’The Cradle of Golf,’ where the competition will be hosted by Carnoustie Burnside and Monifieth courses. About sixty miles from Edinburgh.

Alan Robertson, Old Tom and James Braid have all played their part on the Carnoustie golfing landscape whilst Monifieth, dating from 1850, has served as a qualifier for several Open Championships including the most recent in 2007.

The dates for your diary – Monday, 8th October at Monifieth (www.monifiethgolf.co.uk )for a first round better ball and individual scores, and Tuesday 9th October at Carnoustie Burnside (www.carnoustiegolflinks.co.uk ) for the final, the Monday scores being carried forwards for a 36 hole total. Entry costs for both days of the Championship, to include the Gala Dinner at the Carnoustie Golf Hotel (http://www.oxfordhotelsandinns.comwww.oxfordhotelsandinns.com ), £150.

We have already seen a significant increase in bookings from Continental Europe as well as new players from as far away as South Africa.

A sign surely, that this will be the biggest World Hickory Open to date.
